About The Position

Join the Intermediate Care Unit at Alton Memorial Hospital, part of BJC HealthCare, where Student Nurse Techs gain hands-on experience delivering direct patient care. Work alongside nurses in a supportive, team-based environment while building core clinical skills. Candidates should have basic patient care experience, including taking vital signs, assisting with activities of daily living, and providing bedside support. This role offers a consistent schedule and a pathway to transition into a nursing career after graduation.

Requirements

• Must be currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program
• Must have completed a foundational nursing course (Fundamentals or equivalent coursework)

Responsibilities

• Assists nurse with patient and family education.
• Documents all patient care activities provided with correct medical terminology.
• Acts as 1:1 patient safety sitter as necessary.
• Ensures availability of supplies and equipment to meet each patient's needs.
• Implements direct patient care under the supervision of the nursing team.
• Collects clinical data and information on patients and reports abnormal findings to the nurse.
• Instructs patients in preparations for tests and procedures.
