Performs patient care activities and other tasks under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN). Performs basic nursing care and selected procedures under the direct supervision of the Registered Nurse (RN) to include but not limited to basic blood glucose collection, coughing/deep breathing, incentive spirometer, pulse ox and oxygen setup, suction setup, dressing changes, recognition of life-threatening conditions with initial response, reporting, emptying, and measuring equipment and documents. Accurately completes and documents patient vital signs. Duties include assessing blood pressure, pulse, temperature, heart rate, and oxygenation via pulse ox or ETCO2. Reports abnormal values to the RN. Proficient with the electronic health records for documentation and review, performing these activities concurrently with provision of care throughout the shift. Performs basic nursing care, simple and complex procedures, multiple treatments, waived testing, and transports assigned patients. Participates in patient rounding and under the supervision of the RN actively engages in review of harm prevention measures such as efficient turning and repositioning, VAP bundle, ensuring Curos caps remain on the IV lines and monitoring central line dressing for soiling. Communicates and informs appropriate personnel, patients, and family members of patient information in a timely manner. Assists patients with needs related to personal hygiene. Duties include but are not limited to bathing, washing hair, brushing teeth and hair, washing hands, feet and private areas with dignity. Meets patients' needs related to elimination. Duties include but are not limited to assisting patient with getting to the bathroom, using a bedside commode, using a bedpan, and/or using a urinal. Accurately monitors and documents inputs and outputs. Assists with patient needs related to nutrition and feeding. Duties include but are not limited to assisting with feeding, drinking, and setting up meal trays. Assist patients with ambulation needs. Duties include but are not limited to dangling, walking with an assistive device, and implementing fall prevention measures under the direction of the RN. Utilizes equipment and supplies safely and appropriately; orders supplies as needed; labels specimens correctly. Performs other duties as assigned.
