Student Nurse Tech (SNT) – Nursing Float – PRN
About The Position
Join Barnes-Jewish Hospital, part of BJC HealthCare, as a Student Nurse Tech (SNT) and gain valuable hands-on experience supporting patient care across a variety of inpatient units. In this role, you will work alongside experienced nurses and interdisciplinary teams, contributing to safe, compassionate care while building a strong clinical foundation for your future nursing career. This PRN, self-scheduled role requires a minimum of 8 hours per pay period and offers flexible shift options. You will have the opportunity to support over 65 inpatient units and diverse patient populations, with shift differentials for nights and weekends. Hands-on patient care includes vital signs, accuchecks, bathing, feeding, transport, and patient safety observation. You will work in a collaborative environment with RNs, charge nurses, social workers, case coordinators, and unit support teams, and be part of a culture of connection and recognition through BJC Connections Groups, BJC Bravo peer recognition, and the Thrive well-being program.
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in an accredited nursing program
- Completion of nursing fundamentals required
- Completion of required PCT training class
- Initial two-week full-time commitment on days to support onboarding and skill development
- Enrolled-accredited RN program

Responsibilities
- Assists nurse with patient and family education.
- Documents all patient care activities provided with correct medical terminology.
- Acts as 1:1 patient safety sitter as necessary.
- Ensures availability of supplies and equipment to meet each patient's needs.
- Implements direct patient care under the supervision of the nursing team.
- Collects clinical data and information on patients and reports abnormal findings to the nurse.
- Instructs patients in preparations for tests and procedures.
