About The Position

High performing in a specialty means we were in the top 10% nationally of all evaluated hospitals for that specialty or procedure and condition. Northwest HealthCare, six miles west of Christian, offers 24- hour emergency care, the Sleep Disorders Center and a variety of outpatient diagnostic and imaging services. The 8th floor is a 44 bed Renal/Telemetry unit with 24 semi-private rooms and 1 private room with an adjacent dialysis suite where dialysis treatments are performed under a contractual agreement. The dialysis suite can accommodate 6 patients at any given time. There are 2 negative air-flow rooms on the unit. Any semi-private room can be made private for isolation purposes or to accommodate patient request. Patients admitted to the 8th floor are acutely ill with medical problems whose primary reason for admission include but are not limited to Renal Failure, CHF, Pneumonia, COPD, Sepsis, Dehydration, Diabetes Mellitus, MI, Angioplasty, S/P Cardiac Catheterization, Cardiac Arrhythmias, Direct Admits along with Post-op surgical patients.

Requirements

• Must have completed nursing fundamentals course
• Minimum of 1 year out from graduation
• Enrolled-accredited RN program
• No Experience

Nice To Haves

• Preferred to work 1 shift per week minimum
• Enrolled-accredited BSN progrm

Responsibilities

• Assists nurse with patient and family education.
• Documents all patient care activities provided with correct medical terminology.
• Acts as 1:1 patient safety sitter as necessary.
• Ensures availability of supplies and equipment to meet each patient's needs.
• Implements direct patient care under the supervision of the nursing team.
• Collects clinical data and information on patients and reports abnormal findings to the nurse.
• Instructs patients in preparations for tests and procedures.
