About The Position

As part of BJC HealthCare, Parkland Health Center offers a unique combination of world-class medicine along with the deep local roots and rich history of its three predecessors – Bonne Terre Hospital (opened in 1911), Mineral Area Regional Medical Center (1952), and Farmington Community Hospital (1969). Parkland Health Center has two locations in St. Francois County, Missouri – a full-service acute care hospital in Farmington as well as a rural emergency hospital in Bonne Terre. Parkland Health Center provides quality primary and secondary level inpatient and outpatient services to the people of St. Francois County and surrounding areas in southeastern Missouri. In addition, Parkland’s Farmington campus offers a full continuum of inpatient and medical-surgical and intensive care, obstetrics and emergency services, along with a wide variety of outpatient services including oncology services, an infusion center, a wound care clinic, and the Huckstep Heart and Lung Center. Bonne Terre is a Rural Emergency Hospital providing emergency services and outpatient services including medical observation, lab, radiology, and sleep study. The Post Operative Department provides pre-op and post-op inpatient care to those patients undergoing specialty surgical procedures. Inpatient care in this department focuses on pre-op needs, post-op care and treatment after phase I recovery through discharge. This role provides multi-skilled, direct patient care, under the direction and supervision of a registered professional nurse. This job requires completion of a foundational nursing skills course or equivalent (fundamentals, foundations, or adult/peds health.

• Current enrollment in an accredited nursing program
• Completion of a foundational nursing skills course or equivalent (fundamentals, foundations, or adult/peds health)
• To maintain PRN employment status requires working 24 hours every six-weeks
• Enrolled-accredited RN program
• No Experience

Responsibilities

• Assists nurse with patient and family education.
• Documents all patient care activities provided with correct medical terminology.
• Acts as 1:1 patient safety sitter as necessary.
• Ensures availability of supplies and equipment to meet each patient's needs.
• Implements direct patient care under the supervision of the nursing team.
• Collects clinical data and information on patients and reports abnormal findings to the nurse.
• Instructs patients in preparations for tests and procedures.
