Humber River Health is seeking Student Nurse Externs to join their medicine and surgical programs. Requirements

Currently enrolled in years 2-4 of a nursing program.
Current CPR certification.
Excellent communication skills.
Exceptional customer service skills.
Must be a team player (works well with others).
Ability to accurately and effectively communicate with inter-professional healthcare team members.
Demonstrates understanding of the use of technology.
Ability to provide basic assistive care with frequent supervision and ongoing mentoring from a Registered Nurse or Registered Practical Nurse.
Mandatory compliance with HRH training: Privacy & Confidentiality requirements, WHMIS, Fire & Safety, hand hygiene modules.
Good work attendance.

Responsibilities

Provide direct personal support to HRH patients as an unregulated healthcare worker.
Provide basic care (activities of daily living such as bathing, toileting, feeding, etc.) for up to 10 patients each.
Work under the supervision of Registered Nurses and Registered Practical Nurses according to department policies and procedures.
Document activities of daily living (ADLs), including intake and output.
Communicate relevant information for patients receiving care.
Immediately report any clinical concerns to the direct supervisor.
