About The Position

The Library Student Worker will be responsible for circulation duties and other tasks as assigned in support of the UWS Library. This position is for students enrolled in the UWS DC or NMD program and qualified for the federal work-study program. The role involves approximately 1-10 hours per week, depending on scheduling, with compensation at $16.30 per hour. Multiple positions are available.

Requirements

  • Be enrolled in the UWS DC or NMD program.
  • Be qualified for federal work-study program.
  • Be able to work independently.
  • Be reliable.
  • Be an effective communicator orally and in writing.

Responsibilities

  • Provide staffing at the library circulation desk.
  • Perform check-in and checkout of all library materials, including the main collection, models, study aids, reserve materials, items held for patrons from other libraries, computers, iPads, and other electronics.
  • Open/close library as necessary.
  • May provide primary staffing for short periods in case of library staff outages.
  • Assist library users with directional and ready-reference questions, such as library policies, library hours, and locating journals and books.
  • Assist with minor computer, printer/copier, and equipment maintenance.
  • Perform stacks maintenance, including re-shelving, shelf reading, and dusting materials.
  • Perform light cleaning, such as cleaning plastic models and wiping down computer screens.
  • Maintain order in the Library and be alert to safety issues.
  • Assist with special projects such as inventory.
