About The Position

This is a student intern position receiving training and mentoring in an assigned area of responsibility performing assignments that serve to offer practical experience and broad exposure to MWD’s organizational structure. In this position, you’ll gain expert-level experience in resolving problems with products, applications, and services, such as laptops, mobile devices and day-to-day operations of equipment and systems. You will be working in a walk-in environment and will be interacting with employees within Metropolitan Water District. This student intern position may also assist with audio visual/media platforms, media support, and help facilitate committee forums and conference meetings. The ideal candidate will enjoy working with customers, willingness to learn, manage time effectively, comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with guidance, ability to work both independently and as part of a team while demonstrating commitment and patience.

Requirements

  • Current enrollment in an accredited four-year college or university carrying a minimum of 12 semester units or 8 quarter units with junior or senior standing in a related major and maintain a cumulative grade point average of 2.75 or higher on a 4.0 scale, or current enrollment in an accredited graduate degree program in a related major with a grade point average of 2.75 or higher.
  • Related major is defined as: Computer Science or Computer Engineering.
  • Valid California Class C Driver’s License or equivalent (required at time of application) that allows you to drive during your employment.
  • Applicants for employment with The Metropolitan Water District of Southern California must have work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States (i.e., H1-B or other employment-based immigration case).

Responsibilities

  • Gain expert-level experience in troubleshooting skills with technical support for hardware, software, and network-related issues through phone or ticketing system.
  • Escalate complex issues to appropriate IT teams while ensuring proper follow-up.
  • Support loaner pool in iHub.
  • May assist with audio visual/media platforms, media support, and help facilitate conference meetings.
