About The Position

Entergy’s Project Delivery Engineering Department is responsible for planning, designing, constructing, maintaining and operating over 16,000 miles of transmission lines and over 2,700 substations across the four-state territory. This internship involves working in a team environment to assist engineers in day-to-day activities. The role supports project scoping, relay setting reviews, coordination with design and construction, project schedule support using Primavera, power system modeling using APA, maintaining master models for relay fault analysis, and supporting wide area coordination. Occasional use of tools like ETAP, EMTP, and Hypersim is expected. A key responsibility is developing relay settings for substation protective relays, including performing fault studies and developing settings for transmission protection equipment for capital and asset maintenance projects. The intern will also work with field groups, distribution engineers, and plant engineers to ensure coordination of downstream distribution devices. They will oversee, review, and approve settings developed by professional consultant engineers, manage contractor awards, and review invoices. The role also involves supporting activities related to SERC/NERC standards compliance (PRC and CIP standards), establishing and improving the relay testing laboratory, developing and supporting relay test plans, and supporting the development of configurations for non-RTU assets like DFR and PQ meters. The position includes participating in substation visits, providing technical support and protection system expertise for operational/commissioning requests, managing documentation via Documentum, assisting with storm/emergency restoration efforts, and supporting protection standard development and implementation. The intern will investigate the impact of relay firmware and software changes and develop/update templates. Travel may be required.

Requirements

Authorization to work in the United States is a precondition to employment in this position. Entergy will not sponsor candidates for work visas for this position.
Seeking Electrical Engineering major.
Candidate with graduation dates of Dec 2027 and beyond preferred.
Must be actively pursuing a bachelors, masters or doctorate degree as indicated above and at minimum classified as a sophomore or beyond.
Minimum 2.8 GPA

Responsibilities

Support and participate in project scoping activities for substation projects.
Review existing relay settings.
Coordinate with design and construction organizations to develop project scope and estimate sheets.
Support project schedules and processes by using activity tracking applications such as Primavera.
Model power systems using APA (previously known as PSS CAPE).
Maintain master model for relay fault analysis.
Support wide area coordination.
Develop relay settings for substation protective relays, including performing fault studies and developing relay settings for transmission protection equipment related to capital projects and asset maintenance projects.
Works with field groups, distribution engineers and plant engineers to ensure coordination of downstream distribution devices for the system.
Oversee, review, and approve settings developed by professional consultant engineers.
Support activities pertaining to SERC/NERC standards compliance and other utility relations as required with focus around PRC and CIP standards.
Establish and improve relay testing laboratory.
Develop and support relay test plans for planned projects.
Support development of configurations for non RTU assets such as DFR and PQ meters.
Participate in substation visits.
Provide technical support and protection system expertise in response to operational/commissioning requests from field personnel.
Manage documentation via Documentum (WebTop and IPS-TRAMS) for transmission system protection and other records according to company and departmental policies.
Assist with storm/emergency restoration efforts as necessary.
Support protection standard development and implementation as required.
Investigate impact of relay firmware and software changes to Entergy system applications.
Develop and update templates as appropriate.
Supports activities to comply with applicable industry standards (i.e. NERC, SERC) and other utility regulations, as required.
