About The Position

Entergy’s Project Delivery Engineering Department is responsible for the planning, designing, constructing, maintaining and operating over 16,000 miles of transmission lines and over 2,700 substations across the four-state territory. This role involves working in a team environment to assist engineers in day-to-day activities. The internship is for Summer 2027 and is an onsite position.

Requirements

  • Candidates must be actively enrolled and pursuing a bachelors, masters or doctorate degree in a Electrical, Mechanical, and/or Civil Engineering for the duration of the internship.
  • Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.8 (on a 4.0 scale), verified through an official transcript from the previous semester.
  • Computer skills–- familiar with various databases, including Windows and Microsoft environments
  • Must have good communication and Customer Service skills.
  • Authorization to work in the United States is a precondition to employment in this position. Entergy will not sponsor candidates for work visas for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Performing design based on project scoping and site visits
  • Utilizing design software to model surveyed field configurations
  • Preparing operational one-line drawings
  • Validate estimating prices and equipment units, ensuring material is properly ordered and staged for upcoming projects
  • Managing projects that are in construction
  • Completion of as-built documentation
  • Participate in weekly planning coordination calls
  • Work on special projects to assist in improving grid reliability
  • Responding to equipment failures
  • Transmission Substation and Line database management
  • Perform various substation design related analyses including substation ground grid analysis, lightning protection analysis, and bus fault analysis.
  • Support of business analytic processes through data mining and reporting, as well as performing a wide variety of detailed engineering analysis in transmission-related areas such as planning, economic analysis, maintenance, design, project management and construction, and operations
  • Supports activities to comply with applicable industry standards (i.e. NERC, SERC) and other utility regulations, as required
