About The Position

Under the direction of the Radiology Director and Manager, this role produces quality diagnostic medical radiographs to ensure proper diagnosis and quality patient care. This position is PRN and operates on a Variable Shift.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled in an approved Radiology Technology program.
  • Actively in a clinical program through school.
  • CPR preferred.
  • Ability to stand for and walk for long periods of time.
  • Ability to lift, push, and pull 100 plus pounds.
  • Ability to move or transfer patients.
  • Ability to deal with strenuous and physical activity daily in lifting, pulling, pushing patients, radiographic equipment cassettes and/or supplies.

Responsibilities

  • Produces quality images by using appropriate exposure technique to ensure proper penetration of the area being radiographed.
  • Demonstrates the proper use of metal markers and or placement of markers electronically.
  • Uses the Kodak CR Imaging System to produce quality films and perform related tasks such as starting up/shutting down the system, utilizing menu selection functions, navigating information screens, reprinting exams, loading/cleaning cassettes, loading the laser printer, and troubleshooting problems.
  • Knows the location of the OR, ACU, and Recovery.
  • Communicates technical information in a manner appropriate for the intended person (patient, co-worker etc.).
  • Responds to changes in the workload using time to departmental advantage.
  • Maintains work area in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Adheres to hospital safety and infection control policies.
  • Reports faulty equipment to appropriate persons.
  • Uses protective equipment as needed.
  • Practices Radiation Safety for patients, self, and co-workers.
  • Wears radiation dosimetry badge daily.
  • Attends appropriate orientations, required in-services, and departmental meetings or reads meeting minutes.
  • Reviews education poster boards located in the department.
  • Demonstrates attitude of cooperation and professionalism when working in all areas of the hospital.
  • Displays initiative and enthusiasm for non-routine or extra duties.
  • Seeks out duties that need to be done without being told to.
  • Practices universal precautions and disposes of hazardous wastes per established guidelines.
  • Maintains a safe, clean, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients/families/employees in accordance with hospital standards.
  • Reports risk management concerns.
  • Assumes responsibility for completing all annual mandatory training (Safety/Fire, Blood Borne Pathogen, Hazardous Communication, TB, Department Specific, Age Appropriate Care, HIPAA, Assigned .EDU courses).
  • Works in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
  • Currently enrolled in approved Radiology Technology program.
  • Actively performing clinical rotation assigned by school.
  • Demonstrates respect and compassion to customers, co-workers, and all others while delivering excellent care and courteous service.
  • Follows the hospital confidentiality policy at all times.

  • Follows HIPAA guidelines regarding patient health information.

  • Reviews departmental QI, QA, & QC monthly during departmental meetings and by reviewing posted information.
  • Provides data/input to Radiology management staff pertaining to current departmental QI Teams projects.
  • Enters information into the Radiology module correctly and in a timely manner.
  • Provides training and direction to co-workers as necessary.
  • Moves all completed exams to taken status within 30 minutes of completion of exam to help ensure the 24 hours report turnaround time is met.
  • Enters/edits exams as needed.
  • Prints consent forms for procedures from Meditech as needed.
  • Checks the internal MOX email system for messages and sends professional and appropriate messages only.
  • Provides age-appropriate care to school age, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and skills of normal growth and development necessary to provide services to the age of the patients served by the department.
  • Demonstrates the ability to assess and interpret age-specific data to identify patient needs.
  • Utilizes communication skills necessary to interpret age-specific response to questions.
