About The Position

Good Morning Indian Country seeks personnel to provide production support for its weekly Native news and information livestream program. This will provide a unique opportunity for KU and Haskell students to work together in a newsroom setting and teach each other about multimedia journalism and how to respectfully cover Indian Country. These individuals will work in multiple capacities including producing, anchoring, reporting, and writing.

Requirements

• Strong communication skills, as evidenced by application materials.
• Professional experience working individually, as well as in a team, as evidenced by application materials.
• Professional experience requiring attention to detail and self-motivation, as evidenced by application materials.
• During the semester term of the appointment, the student hourly must be enrolled in no fewer than 6 credit hours.
• For summer periods the student hourly must: (1) have been enrolled in no less than 6 hours in the past spring semester or (2) be pre-enrolled in the upcoming fall semester in no less than 6 hours or (3) be enrolled in summer session or (4) be admitted to study in the upcoming fall semester.
• Student Hourlies may be undergraduate or graduate students.
• Student employees are not eligible for remote work arrangements unless an exception is approved by the unit leadership and HR.
• This is an hourly/non-exempt position. A student employee cannot hold an hourly/non-exempt position and a salaried/exempt graduate or undergraduate position (GRA/GTA/GA/RUA/RGA) concurrently.

Responsibilities

• Duties vary based on weekly in-studio needs for show day including anchoring, on camera interviews with studio guests, writing, running audio, running teleprompter, running studio camera, and floor directing.
• One hour of work outside of Wednesday studio time prepping for show day which may include stacking the show rundown, writing and/or reviewing scripts, entering guest information in the show rundown, etc.
• Other duties as assigned on show day which may include greeting guests and assisting guests as they prepare to be on camera, assisting with social media posts or the livestream during the show.
