About The Position

The Student-Hourly Assistant, under general supervision, will gain experience working as the Student Health Clinic Front Desk Clerk. The Student Assistant will be responsible for interacting with patients, scheduling appointments, and assisting with patient check-in, while maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality.

Requirements

  • Presently enrolled at Prairie View A&M University for at least nine (9) graduate or six (6) undergraduate semester credit hours during the term in which the work is to be done.
  • Must be in good academic standing (SAP) as demonstrated through your college; minimum 2.0 GPA
  • No prior experience necessary
  • For work eligibility during a summer term, a student must be enrolled for at least three (3) graduate or undergraduate semester credit hours during the term in which the work is to be done or preregistered at least six (6) undergraduate semester hours or nine (9) graduate semester hours for the upcoming fall term.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients and guests upon entry to the clinic
  • Answer and forward calls to appropriate point of contact
  • Perform patient check-in and check-out according to the standard operating procedures
  • Set patient appointments according the appointment scheduling standard operating procedures
  • Demonstrate respect and regard for the dignity of all patients, family members, visitors and other employees to ensure a professional, responsible and courteous environment
  • Perform other clerical and additional duties as assigned
