About The Position

The Student Hospitality Management Program (SHMP) is a hands-on, leadership-focused internship designed to give students real experience in hospitality operations while they are still in school. Interns will not just shadow but will participate, contribute, and grow within the program. This is a rotational, immersive experience across multiple areas of hospitality, including supporting daily operations, working with managers and mentors, assisting with training, gaining exposure to dining, retail, catering, and events, and contributing to special projects. The program aims to develop leadership experience, customer service and communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and insight into hospitality operations.

Requirements

Must be a student at the University of Delaware location
Must read, write, and understand verbal instructions
Must complete a sanitation and allergy captain course during the program
Ability to perform basic arithmetic
Maintain emotional control under stress
Must be knowledgeable in operating an efficient cost-effective program
Ability to resolve interpersonal situations
Strong organizational skills

Responsibilities

Support daily operations (opening, closing, and service execution)
