About The Position

The Center for Civic Engagement (CCE) is seeking a graphic design student worker to create and design various communication, marketing, and promotional materials for civic engagement opportunities, programming, and events. This role involves designing print and electronic graphics such as brochures, newsletters, posters, banners, advertisements, t-shirts, LCD screens, email templates, and social media content. The student worker will also assist with other unit projects as needed and may be asked to represent CCE at events and fairs, including tabling. Additionally, all CCE student employees may be required to help staff the office and answer phones periodically. Occasional in-person team meetings, participation in on-campus events, and/or staffing in the CCE office may also be necessary. The CCE is a department that supports the missions of the Division of Student Affairs and the Division of Academic Affairs, focusing on enacting Illinois State’s commitment to civic engagement and fostering a culture that values it through programs and services in partnership with students, faculty, staff, and community organizations. The department organizes work around civic engagement, including volunteering, service-learning, political engagement, and civic education. Requirements

  • Students in leadership positions within Alternative Breaks (executive board, trip leaders, etc.) are not eligible to apply.
  • All student employees in the Center for Civic Engagement must have good academic and disciplinary standing to obtain employment.
  • Must be able to remain at a workstation for extended periods.
  • Must be able to move about in various locations across campus as needed to complete day-to-day work.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate on a daily basis.

  • Proficient with Adobe Creative Suite design software (i.e. Photoshop, Illustrator)

Responsibilities

  • Create and design a variety of communication, marketing, and promotional items for civic engagement opportunities, programming, and events.
  • Create and design a variety of print and electronic graphics, including brochures, newsletters, posters, banners, advertisements, t-shirts, LCD screens, email templates, social media, etc.
  • Assist with other unit projects as needed.
  • Attend events and fairs as a representative of CCE, including tabling at fairs and open houses.
  • Periodically help staff the CCE office and answer phones as needed.
  • Participate in occasional in-person team meetings, and/or work at on-campus events, and/or staffing in the CCE office.
