About The Position

Grand Canyon University! One of Arizona’s leading institutions of higher learning. Located in the Valley of Sun in the heart of Phoenix, Arizona, GCU is a regionally accredited, private, nondenominational Christian University. The Grand Canyon University Student Fitness Centers is accepting applications for a Graduate Assistant position. The Graduate Assistant will work with Management as well as Student Workers to ensure the facility is operating safely, efficiently, and in a manner that best serves the general campus population. The employee is required to be accepted and matriculate through a Grand Canyon University graduate program.

Requirements

• Must have a Bachelor’s degree.
• Must be accepted into a Grand Canyon University graduate program.
• Must be able to maintain academic GPA of 3.0.
• Be able to work in conjunction with current staff.
• Capable of working independently without direction or oversight.
• Meticulous with a keen attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
• Good relationship management skills and ability to work cohesively in a team environment requiring good social and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to cope with changing priorities, rolling deadlines and a fast-paced environment effectively.
• Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement and Mission of Grand Canyon University.

Responsibilities

• Supervise Student Fitness Center (SFC) locations and its occupants’ ensuring protocols are being adhered to.
• Work with current SFC employees to uphold direction of the facility and oversee SFC and its Instructors in providing assistance whenever necessary.
• Confirm SFC locations are made available when reserved in accordance with scheduling.
• Ensure individuals entering the facility check identifications as well as sign in at the front desk.
• Communicate with athletic coaches, campus employees, and students to ensure facility is accessible.
• Supervise participants while observing activities pertaining to the SFC.’s.
• Ensure accessibility for any tours, coaches, students, or faculty seeking use of the facility.
• Must be available to work evenings and weekends at the SFC from 6:00pm-12am if needed.
• Must be available to work at any one of our four SFC locations; Chaparral, Papago, Juniper, Antelope and Verde.
• Overseeing student leadership team and work on the student workers weekly scheduling.
