Student Engineering Intern
About The Position
RESPEC seeks a Student Intern in Structural Engineering for its Summer Internship 2027 program in the Anchorage, Alaska office. This is a paid, temporary part-time internship lasting approximately 12 weeks from May through August 2027. The position is part of RESPEC’s Facilities (Structural) Market Sector and offers hands-on design experience at an engineering consulting firm. The intern will work alongside full-time employees and receive mentoring and coaching to develop civil engineering skills and knowledge. The role provides exposure to clients, job sites, and communities, as well as opportunities to collaborate with RESPEC’s multidisciplinary team on public- and private-sector projects.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in civil engineering from an accredited institution.
Nice To Haves
- Solid time management skills and the ability to produce accurate, high-quality work efficiently.
- Coursework in steel, wood, concrete, and precast/prestressed concrete design.
- Good working knowledge of fundamental structural engineering concepts.
- Self-motivated and detail-oriented.
- Strong problem-solving and math skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
- Team player who strives to provide quality work.
- Some proficiency with AutoCAD Revit.
Responsibilities
- Assist with design work.
- Perform calculations and simulations.
- Research topics as assigned.
- Assist with field inspections.
