About The Position

US Synthetic has an immediate opening for a Process Student Engineer located in Orem, UT. The Student Engineer will assist the Process Engineer with all aspects of the assigned process and related machinery. This role includes solving problems and applying Lean methods to drive continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Acceptance into a bachelor’s engineering program

  • Ability to teach and explain methods, standards, and procedures to others (Job Instruction)

  • Some database knowledge (SQL, statistics)

Responsibilities

  • Assist Engineers and Specialists with all aspects of assigned processes and related machines
  • Troubleshoot process and equipment issues
  • Support production operators with machine malfunctions and assist maintenance when needed
  • Help improve product quality on the production floor
  • Lead or support PDCAs for the process
  • Learn and apply Six Sigma principles
  • Create, audit, and maintain Standard Work documents used for operator training, including Critical Knowledge documents and Job Breakdown Sheets
  • Facilitate and train others during process-related meetings
  • Run process-improvement experiments using tools such as SPC, Six Sigma methods, DOE, material analysis, and 3-D modeling (Creo or similar)
  • Quantify properties and improve understanding of PDC (polycrystalline diamond compact) inserts or related support processes
