About The Position

This is a temporary employment recruitment reporting to the UCI Temporary Employment Services (TES) Department. The role involves managing and coordinating Student Outreach and Retention (SOAR) signature programs and events, serving as an advisor for the Native American Recruitment & Retention Initiative (NARRI), overseeing non-traditional campus visit programs, managing a laptop loan program, and supervising a team of student employees. The position requires day-to-day oversight of program operations and supporting student staff in executing SOAR initiatives. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, student affairs, counseling, communications, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience coordinating programs, events, or student-focused initiatives in a higher education or community setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to supervise, train, and provide guidance to student employees or interns.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple programs, events, and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, campus partners, and diverse communities.
  • Ability to read, write, and follow written and oral instructions in English.
  • Must be able to provide proof of work authorization.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with student recruitment, retention, access, or outreach programs in a higher education setting.
  • Experience supporting Native American/Indigenous student recruitment and retention initiatives or working with underserved student populations.
  • Experience coordinating campus visits, student events, or large-scale programs.
  • Experience managing equipment loan or inventory programs and coordinating technical support with IT teams.
  • Experience working with or advising student organizations, interns, or peer leaders.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate Student Outreach and Retention (SOAR) signature programs and events, including Cup of SOAR, SOAR Open House, quarterly SOaring Through Finals, End-of-Year Celebration, and the SOAR Intern Program.
  • Serve as an advisor for the Native American Recruitment & Retention Initiative (NARRI) and oversee non-traditional campus visit programs and activities.
  • Manage the laptop loan program, including tracking reservations, coordinating equipment availability, and troubleshooting technical issues in partnership with OIT.
  • Supervise and provide guidance to a team of eight student employees, including three paid student staff and five interns.
  • Coordinate student programming, provide day-to-day oversight of program operations, and support student staff in the successful execution of SOAR initiatives.
