About The Position

Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University is currently recruiting for a Student Employment Specialist within the Human Resources department. This position is responsible for supporting the Prescott campus' student employment hiring initiatives. Embry-Riddle's Prescott Campus is respected worldwide for cutting-edge instruction and training for tomorrow’s aviation, aerospace, security and intelligence leaders. The university is a small, private, residential university in the mountains of Arizona with approximately 3,500 students. Staff/faculty/student interaction is highly valued and is a central theme of our campus. The Prescott Campus is located 100 miles north of Phoenix and 120 miles south of the Grand Canyon. Job Summary The Student Employment Specialist performs a variety of technical, administrative, and confidential duties related to the day-to-day functioning of the department and carries out responsibilities in the following functional areas: recruiting and employment (primarily hiring students; providing support to hiring managers and onboard new student hires), provide training and development sessions, and a wide variety of general human resources administration. This is a full-time, exempt role with benefits. Under the direct oversight of the Director of Student Employment (located at the Daytona Beach, FL Campus), this fast-paced position will work in partnership with hiring managers throughout the campus. The department hires approximately 900 student workers per year.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Proven track record of providing superb customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills to foster open communication and promote positive relationships.
  • Ability to maintain work priorities in an environment with multiple concurrent tasks and projects while meeting deadlines with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to be proactive and take initiative in day-to-day activities and look for ways to implement process improvements.
  • Ability to multi-task, while simultaneously being detail-oriented.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, and Excel.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Ability to work in an organized manner and consistently follow-up on tasks.
  • Ability to work effectively with people from a variety of culturally diverse backgrounds and educational levels.
  • Knowledge of principle, practices and standards of Human Resources Administration.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business or related field.
  • Human Resources experience in recruitment, onboarding and working knowledge of state and federal employment regulations.
  • Higher education experience.

Responsibilities

  • Effectively records, maintains, and reports hiring information.
  • Supports all internal and external HR-related inquiries or requests (employees, students, visitors).
  • Performs administrative tasks to support managers hiring students on campus, which includes the recruitment process.
  • Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: Hiring and onboarding all student employees, training sessions with hiring managers, assisting with background screenings, and conducting initial orientation/benefit review to newly hired employees, if applicable.
  • Provide assistance to students and hiring supervisors with Workday functionality.
  • Ensure all new hire documents are in compliance with federal and state regulations: collect, maintain and update EQUIFAX records of employment, which includes re-verifications.
  • Assist with student worker and manager training and development.
  • Assist and manage campus events for student employees, including annual student employee appreciation week.
  • Help resolve student worker concerns and issues.
  • Weekly, monthly, term based communications in mass to specific cohorts, ensure strong communication between all parties.
  • Maintain office supplies for the department.
