About The Position

This is a Summer II 2026 On Campus Student Employee position at the Abbeville Campus of South Louisiana Community College. The appointment is for the Academic & Student Affairs department and is classified as Unclassified - Student. The appointment dates are from May 11, 2026, to June 30, 2026. The salary is $10 per hour, with a maximum of 25 hours per week. The role involves providing outstanding service to students and customers, offering administrative and office support, communicating effectively via telephone, email, and in person, and completing various tasks to develop professional skills. The student will work independently and within a team on projects, demonstrate interpersonal skills for sensitive situations, and perform other duties as assigned. The position requires the ability to work the necessary hours, attend all mandatory meetings, and maintain regular attendance. Federal Work Study Experience Learning Outcomes include gaining knowledge of employee characteristics, understanding employment processes, developing customer service and transferable work skills, and learning practical work tenets for success in a professional office environment.

Requirements

  • Current SoLAcc student
  • Enrolled in a minimum of six (6) credit hours for the Summer 2026 semester
  • Completed 2025-2026 FAFSA on file with SoLAcc
  • Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
  • Passing pre-employment criminal background screen is required as a condition of employment.

Responsibilities

  • Providing outstanding service to students and other internal and external customers.
  • Providing day-to-day administrative and office support for the assigned department.
  • Communicating effectively with students and others as directed via telephone, email, and in face-to-face settings.
  • Completing a diverse set of tasks designed to develop and strengthen knowledge and skills related to employment in a professional environment.
  • Working independently within a team on special and ongoing projects.
  • Demonstrating a high level of interpersonal skills to handle sensitive and confidential situations.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
  • Ability and endurance necessary to work the hours needed to complete the job.
  • Attendance at all mandatory meetings.
