About The Position

The Student Employee is responsible for assisting the staff in the assigned department. The Student Employee works with a team of baristas to take orders, make drinks, upkeep the coffee shop’s cleanliness and supplies, and provide welcoming customer service. This position is for work study or work program students, part-time, hourly, and non-exempt. The pay range is $14.00 - $14.00.

  • Be currently enrolled as a student at EMU.
  • High School diploma.

Responsibilities

  • Provide excellent customer service to students, faculty, staff, and campus visitors.
  • Answer incoming phone calls.
  • Perform a variety of administrative and/or office duties.
  • Provide assistance and support to faculty and/or staff in completing special projects as assigned.
  • Perform general administrative responsibilities in support of the department/office/campus.
  • Complete department-specific projects as assigned.
  • Attend the workplace regularly as scheduled, report to work punctually, and follow a work schedule to keep up with the demands of the worksite.
  • Support the values of the University.
  • Take orders using a Point of Sale (POS) system while providing warm and welcoming customer interaction.
  • Make drinks ranging from coffees, teas, milkshakes, and specialty menu items.
  • Maintain a clean and inviting coffee shop.
  • Work 2-3 two-hour shifts each week and occasional four-hour weekend shifts.
  • Work well within a team of baristas while creating an uplifting and supportive atmosphere.
  • Exhibit proactive communication with managers and fellow baristas.
  • Responsibly lock and unlock the Coffee Shop as needed or directed.
