About The Position

The Digitization Lab, located in Bizzell Memorial Library, focuses on the high-quality digitization of cultural heritage materials from various OU Libraries collections, including the History of Science Collections, Western History Collections, and Bass Business History Collection. Student Specialists in this role will work independently and as part of a team on projects involving the digitization of diverse special collections items and other materials. Responsibilities include post-processing work, metadata entry, and preparing items for online digital collections. Materials may include rare books, manuscript collections, theses, and maps. The department will provide initial training and ongoing skill development. Other related duties may be assigned.

Requirements

Must be currently enrolled in the Fall semester as a student in good standing at the University of Oklahoma.
Must attach Fall 2026 class schedule as applicable.
Must communicate effectively in written and oral English.
Quality of written application and resume will be used to screen applications prior to consideration for interview.
Good computer skills and familiarity with Mac OS and Windows.
Ability to readily learn and use new technology and software.
Ability to perform highly detail-oriented tasks.
Ability to complete work assignments with minimal supervision while also collaborating with a team of staff and student employees.
Must be able to work a minimum of 12 hours per week; hours of operation 9:00 am to 5:00 pm Monday through Friday.

Nice To Haves

Interest in learning about and working with digital collections.
Some experience with image processing software such as Adobe Lightroom and Acrobat Professional.
Experience using spreadsheets e.g. Microsoft Excel.
Photography experience.
