About The Position

The Student Director leads the student ministry at the Alamance Campus, reaching and discipling middle and high school students and equipping their families to do the same. The role builds and shepherds a team of volunteer leaders; oversees weekly small groups, large-group programming, and events; and engages the local community in evangelism and outreach. Working with the central student ministry team, the Student Director adapts and delivers central resources for the campus and helps carry out churchwide student events, including camps and retreats. The position is expected to work 40 hours per week. Staff members are expected to serve at churchwide events throughout the year, including Easter services, churchwide prayer meetings, Good Friday services, and Christmas services. Serving expectations will be communicated in advance.

Requirements

Experience leading a student ministry; experience in a multisite setting is preferred.
Ability to teach the Bible clearly and engagingly to middle and high school students.
Demonstrated ability to recruit, train, and retain volunteer leaders.
Experience building relationships with students and their families that support spiritual growth.
Ability to build intentional relationships with students, counsel them through real-life issues, and connect them to small groups and next steps.
Strong verbal and written organizational and communication skills.
Proficiency with standard computer software and church management systems such as Rock or Planning Center.
Passion for student ministry, a teachable spirit, and willingness to receive feedback and learn.
Availability to work an expected 40 hours per week and serve at churchwide events.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Seminary or theological training preferred, or willingness to pursue it.
Experience leading a student ministry in a multisite setting.

Responsibilities

Know, love, and shepherd students and parents at ACC.
Oversee the student ministry team at ACC.
Recruit, mobilize, equip, and develop leaders.
Supervise and develop volunteers by setting clear expectations, providing regular feedback, and raising up new leaders.
Resource and partner with parents through clear, consistent communication and by equipping them to disciple their children at home.
Engage the community to create opportunities for evangelism and outreach.
Contextualize and execute campus student ministry programs and events, including small groups and large-group programming.
Stay informed about cultural trends, issues, and pressures affecting students.
Maintain student ministry programs, systems, policies, and procedures.
Assist with contextualizing and executing churchwide student ministry events, including camps and retreats, when available.
Provide ongoing feedback and evaluation of central resources when available.
Perform miscellaneous tasks as assigned by the Campus Pastor or Central Next Gen Team.
Serve at churchwide events throughout the year, with expectations communicated in advance.
