Student Crew Member - AnRS Dairy
About The Position
This student position involves the primary duty of caring for animals, maintaining facilities, and performing some crop and grazing duties at the AnRS Dairy. Students will be responsible for the day-to-day care of cows and heifers at the Dairy Center, including tasks such as milking, stall cleaning, feeding, watering, and calf care. The role also encompasses other operations related to animal husbandry and facility upkeep. Additionally, this position is designed to foster transferable skill development in areas such as Teamwork, Leadership, Professionalism, and Career & Self Development, aligning with essential skills sought by employers.
Requirements
- Must be academically enrolled in a high school, community college, or university and pursuing a program or course of study
- Must meet Academic Standing Requirements; students on academic suspension are not eligible for employment
- Must meet the applicable minimal enrollment standard (High School student: Regularly enrolled in a high school or participating in a home-schooling program; Undergraduate and post-baccalaureate student: 6 credit hours per term; Undergraduate international student: 12 credit hours per term; Graduate student officially admitted to Graduate School: 5 credit hours per term; Graduate international student officially admitted to Graduate School: 9 credit hours per term)
- Willingness to learn new skills and techniques
- Ability to adapt to changed environments
- Must have a reliable form of transportation
- Must successfully complete a criminal history check
- Must successfully complete a Motor Vehicle History Check
- Must possess and maintain a current, valid driver's license in their state of residence
- Can work approximately 2 weekends per month
- Are able and willing to work some AM and PM shifts (around your class schedule)
- Are able to work both during the summer and school year
- Are willing to work on some of the breaks and some holiday shifts
