About The Position

The student employee supports Cataloging and Metadata Department personnel. This position is to begin as soon as agreed upon for the semester. No more than 20 hours per week is allowed for all combined student positions. Hours of Operation: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 4:00 PM. Shifts are flexible and scheduled around your classes. We are looking for a student with strong organizational skills and a willingness to learn. Spanish knowledge is very helpful.   • Active enrollment as a student at Tulane University
  • Federal Work-Study Award recipients only
  • Submit a cover letter with information about your experience

Nice To Haves

  • Spanish knowledge is very helpful
  • Previous library work experience is not required

Responsibilities

  • Pack materials for outsourcing and create shipping lists
  • Unpack, receive, sort, and route incoming materials and returned materials
  • Perform basic searches and verify physical items against bibliographic records in library databases and systems
  • Occasionally prepare physical items for in-house processing (including applying labels, barcodes, property stamps, and protective covers)
  • Occasionally pulling, sorting, and shifting books to make room for new materials
  • Follow instructions, pay close attention to detail, and assist with special departmental projects
