The Student Care Coordinator is part of Student Care Coordination (SCC) in the Student Affairs division at Vanderbilt University and is a key individual contributor responsible for collaborating with students who may have an academic, personal, emotional, medical, and/or other concern. Student Care Coordinators individually assess each student’s needs and explore resources within Vanderbilt’s Student Care Network and/or the Nashville community to facilitate connections to the most appropriate support. Reporting directly to the Associate Director, the Student Care Coordinator’s work requires regular contact with students and their parents, faculty, senior administration, campus partner staff, and the public. The Student Care Coordinator will conduct intake assessments and follow up meetings with students that take into account unique aspects of intersecting identities to determine appropriate treatment plans and help coordinate support services. The Student Care Coordinator will assist students in accessing on and off-campus resources, planning and setting goals related to their care, continuing with the appropriate level of care, as needed, and/or re-entering the University after a medical leave of absence. Additionally, this position will assist with outreach and education for the campus community (students, staff, and faculty) regarding identification and intervention for students of concern, and assist in the development of a network of community providers to supplement on campus services. This is a Regular, Full-Time, Benefits Eligible, Exempt, on-campus role. This position IS NOT eligible for sponsorship. About the Work Unit : The Student Care Network (SCN) is comprised of the Center for Student Wellbeing, Student Care Coordination, the University Counseling Center, and the Student Health Center. The SCN is a holistic network of services and resources pertaining to health and wellness available to all Vanderbilt University students who have paid the Student Health Fee. As such, staff within the offices comprising the SCN work collaboratively to create integrated processes, referrals, and treatment plans to better serve the entire student. Student Care Coordination fosters wellbeing and success by identifying concerns and coordinating support for students facing life events that may interfere with their academic and personal goals using a proactive, collaborative, and student-centered approach. Student Care Coordination is the central and first point of contact for students to help identify needs and determine the most appropriate resources in Vanderbilt’s Student Care Network and in the Nashville community to address concerns. The CARE Support and Intervention Team within Student Care Coordination provide crisis intervention, care management, and support for students with elevated concerns, serious mental health challenges, students who pose a potential threat to themselves and/or others in the community, and students with other high acuity needs. This team will work closely with the Director of Student Care Network, Assistant Dean for Wellbeing, and Deputy Dean of Students along with members of the CARE team, Welfare Panel, and other campus partners to help maintain the safety and health of Vanderbilt students.
