About The Position

The Ontario Securities Commission (OSC) is the statutory body responsible for regulating Ontario’s capital markets. The OSC is currently recruiting for a Student-At-Law – GTS position to work from August 2027 to June 2028. This articling opportunity is with Canada’s largest securities regulator. The Governance & Tribunal Secretariat is a governance and advisory branch of the OSC that provides legal advice, support, and education to the Commission’s Board Directors and separately to the Capital Markets Tribunal’s Adjudicators. The Secretariat administers the OSC’s governance framework and Capital Markets Tribunal. The Tribunal is an independent division of the Commission established by the Securities Commission Act, 2021, and is the administrative tribunal assigned the power to conduct hearings under the Ontario Securities Act and the Commodity Futures Act. The Governance & Tribunal Secretariat is seeking an Articling Student to conduct legal research, provide opinions and memoranda of law, and become involved in all aspects of Tribunal proceedings, working closely with counsel and Adjudicators. Responsibilities may include reviewing hearing materials, preparing evidence summaries, observing submissions, and assisting with the hearing process.
