About The Position

This is a non-career appointment limited to 129 hours per month. The position involves updating databases, performing research, assisting the Michigan Department of Transportation's (MDOT) Water Quality Resource Specialist and other staff, and carrying out other duties as assigned by the supervisor. The salary listed is a range reflecting the minimum to maximum rate for the Student Assistant position. Remote work and alternate work schedule requests may be considered based on operational needs and established limits. Requirements

  • Current enrollment in vocational or technical school, or post-secondary educational institution
  • Enrollment in at least 6 credit hours per semester/term excluding summers
  • Continuously enrolled and earning the required credits
  • Submit proof of enrollment (unofficial transcripts, acceptance letter for upcoming semester/term, copy of current semester/term schedule, or receipt of tuition payment showing a balance of $0.00)
  • Pre-employment drug test and physical (if applicable)
  • Criminal and driving records will also be checked if applicable

Nice To Haves

  • Preferred program of study: Biology, Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or Natural Resources
  • Coursework in wetlands, streams, lakes, plants, water quality, etc.
