Art- Graphic Design - Student Assistant
About The Position
The David R. Hayworth School of Arts and Design (SOAD) department of Art & Graphic Design at High Point University offers a dynamic immersion into the graphic design profession by mixing art and design as important knowledge domains that influence each other. This position will focus on monitoring the graphic design lab, maintaining inventory of supplies in the graphic design labs (Norton 201, Norton 102, and Wilson 221) and helping assist students with printing and technical issues. The student will assist graphic design faculty with different tasks to promote student growth, development, and exposure.
Requirements
- Graphic Design Major
- Professional, responsible, and reliable
- Intermediate Knowledge of Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe InDesign
- Student who has taken Graphic Design classes at HPU
- Student shows a strong work ethic
Responsibilities
- Lead the design lab in established rules and best practices
- Help other Graphic Design students print, and troubleshoot software issues
- Assist faculty with equipment and technical issues with lab printers including the large format printer in the tech lab, the Risograph, the Sharp printers in each of the computer labs, and Adobe CC
- Assist faculty with general troubleshooting
- Assist faculty with paper stocking and inventory
- Assist faculty with printing on the large-scale printer and Risograph
- Assist faculty with becoming proficient in using production equipment including Cricut cutter, sticker printer, or other related equipment
- Assist faculty with tracking supplies and paper
- Assist faculty with keeping the lab clean and orderly
- Help with documenting other student work by scanning work
- Help with documenting other student work by photographing work
- Help with documenting other student work by hanging student work
- Help with documenting other student work by printing student work for displays
- Help with documenting other student work by assisting with promotional materials for the department with art direction from faculty
