Serve as an Assistant to the Stage Manager throughout a main stage production, including rehearsals, technical and dress rehearsals, and performances. Productions may include plays, musicals, dance, or opera. Students may serve as an ASM for only one show per semester and cannot hold additional campus jobs while working in this role. During rehearsals, the Assistant Stage Manager helps supervise student cast and crew members; set up before and clean up after rehearsals; organize production paperwork; and, when multiple rehearsals occur at once, may run a rehearsal room by keeping the session on schedule, maintaining quiet, and arranging breaks. Rehearsal work typically requires arriving 30 minutes before the start and staying 15 minutes after the end. During technical rehearsals and performances, the Assistant Stage Manager helps train the student crew, supports creation and distribution of props-tracking and backstage run sheets, assists with the strike after the final performance, and helps the Stage Management team solve problems. Other duties may be assigned as needed by the production. Students may not work more than 29 hours in a week, except during tech week and performance week, when they may work more than 30 hours. Students coordinate with the Hiring Manager and Stage Managers on recording and submitting hours, and must enter accurate hours in Workday by 2 p.m. every Friday. The hourly rate is $17.51.
