J+D seeks a student worker to help implement a community engagement strategy aimed at building a strong internal community that supports students and alums. This position supports the chair and adviser in communication, with an emphasis on job and internship opportunities for students and recent graduates. The Journalism + Design Slack is the hub of the community of students, alums, faculty, and others. The Student Assistant Specialist supports Journalism + Design’s community engagement efforts by managing communication across Slack, newsletters, and social media while promoting job and internship opportunities for students and alumni. The role involves content creation, community support, data tracking, and collaborating with faculty, requiring strong organization, independence, and enthusiasm for building an inclusive community.
