About The Position

The New School was founded by forward-thinking educators in 1919 to defy the intellectual constraints of a traditional college education. We are seeking 1 student to help with administrative tasks as described below. Lang Economics is seeking a dependable, friendly, and organized Student Assistant to support the daily operations of the department office. The Student Assistant will greet students, faculty, staff, and visitors at the front desk, providing courteous and professional assistance while serving as the first point of contact for the department. Responsibilities include replenishing paper and toner and helping maintain department copiers to ensure uninterrupted operation, assisting with department-sponsored events by setting up rooms, welcoming guests, and managing check-in sheets, and running campus errands such as posting flyers, delivering materials and supplies, and collecting departmental mail. The Student Assistant will also perform light administrative and clerical duties as needed to support daily office operations, including photocopying, scanning books and documents for faculty, filing, and completing other office tasks as assigned. The ideal candidate is reliable, organized, customer service-oriented, and able to work independently while maintaining a professional and welcoming environment.

Requirements

  • Must be eligible for Federal Work Study- please provide letter
  • Reliable, punctual, and organized
  • Comfortable using standard office equipment (copiers, scanners, etc.)
  • Professional communication and a collaborative attitude
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and follow instructions carefully
  • Ability to help with events that start at 6pm (on either M, W or R).

Responsibilities
