About The Position

This position is located in Richland County and offers flexible hours, up to 28 hours if taking classes and up to 38 hours during the summer and/or academic breaks. The responsibilities are moderate and less routine, requiring good judgment. The role may involve coordinating activities for other student employees and demands excellent customer service, strong organizational skills, and the ability to work in a professional environment. Previous experience and knowledge in a student assistant role are required. The Student Assistant will represent the department and the university with integrity, adhering to OSU's mission and shared values. OSU Extension in Richland County is seeking a Summer Student Assistant to support the summer 4-H Youth Development program. This county-based extension internship aims to provide college students with workforce preparation skills for their first professional careers, offering valuable pre-professional experience for educational and community-based fields.

Requirements

  • Requires previous experience and knowledge or skill in student assistant role
  • Must have completed one year of college
  • Have evidence of successful leadership experience in 4-H, school and/or community organizations
  • Should be self-motivated
  • Possess strong organizational skills
  • Must be available to work a flexible schedule including occasional nights and weekends
  • Providing excellent customer service
  • Ability to work in a professional environment

Responsibilities

  • May coordinate activities for other student employees
  • Represent the department and the university with the highest degree of integrity applying OSU mission and shared values
  • Assisting the County Staff with Summer Youth Camps, judging's, and preparation for other activities
  • Assist county staff with summer judging activities and summer preparations
  • Assist county staff with summer youth camps (Cloverbud and 4-H resident camps)
  • Help prepare displays and materials for fair to promote youth programming efforts
  • Complete other assignments with the 4-H Educator and County Extension staff relating to the OSU Extension program
