About The Position

In this role, the Student Assistance Program Counselor will serve as an ad-hoc team member to Student Assistance Teams within Delaware County. Requirements

  • Master's Degree or Bachelor's degree and be in enrolled in a Master's program within 1 year of graduation. All degree(s) must be from a regionally accredited institution of higher learning
  • One year of experience in the behavioral health/education field, including experience with children/adolescents and families
  • License or certification preferred
  • Pennsylvania Child Abuse Clearance, Criminal clearance, and fingerprint-based federal criminal history
  • Verification that employee is not on any Medicaid/Medicare Exclusion list

Responsibilities

  • Monitor SAP Teams’ ability to follow state-mandated SAP processes and provide technical assistance
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with school administration and personnel, youth and families, community support and treatment agencies, and the general public
  • Conduct quality psycho-social screening and assessment services with students and family members
  • Facilitate school-based psycho-educational student support groups and conduct classroom presentations
  • Monitor student progress and provide reports to the designated individuals
  • Maintain student confidentiality and serve as a student advocate
  • Provide information, via technical assistance, consultations, presentations, and in-services, to youth, schools, and families on behavioral health issues
  • Make appropriate referrals for treatment and community support services to youth and families and facilitate the acquisition of treatment services
  • Demonstrate thorough knowledge of treatment facilities and human service agencies providing services to students requiring behavioral health services
  • Provide crisis/intervention/aftercare services
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor
