About The Position

Reporting to the Assistant Director in the Office of Student Engagement (OSE), Student Activity Group Leaders will support the goals of the office and the division of Student Success within The New School. This position primarily focuses on the Student-Led Events and Programs for the Student Activities Board (SAB) with collaborative support from Student Event Assistants. The Office of Student Engagement (OSE) at The New School supports the university's educational mission by fostering opportunities for meaningful engagement and connections beyond the classroom. OSE encourages students to actively participate in the university community by joining or starting a student organization, engaging in recreational activities, or attending events and programs organized by the Student Activities Board, which is the New School's programming board, responsible for developing and implementing small/large scale events such as open mic nights, silent disco, and mixers to bring the New School's community together.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled New School student who qualifies for Federal Work Study.
  • Demonstrated commitment to community building and teamwork.
  • Reliable, organized, and communicative.
  • Able to manage a hybrid schedule and confirm weekly changes for event staffing.
  • Able to commit to weekly meetings on Thursdays from 4-5 (in person) OR Fridays 4-5 (on zoom).

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience working in an office or community building environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a student officer on the Student Activities Board (SAB), which hosts student-led events throughout the Academic Year (Fall/Spring) for on and off campus.
  • Reply to student inquiries related to student-led programming.
  • Staff SLI-TE events (when needed), meetings, and office hours for SAB in person.
  • Prepare for events and hold virtual office hours remotely.
  • Photography: If applicable, provide documentation and photography support at campus events and programs.

Benefits

  • Hourly Rate: $17-$19/hr
