About The Position

Under the supervision and direction of the Special Education and ABA Managers, the Student 1:1 Aide CNA provides assistance to a specific student, performing a variety of tasks relating to the behavioral, adaptive, medical, and instructional needs of the student in a classroom setting.

Requirements

  • Valid Arizona IVP fingerprint clearance card
  • First aid/CPR certification
  • High school diploma or equivalent

Nice To Haves

  • Special education and/or medical experience: 1 year
  • CNA or Medical Assistant certification
  • Ability to exercise tact, good judgment, and initiative in dealing with students, faculty, and the public
  • Ability to communicate with co-workers and parents in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Ability to exercise reasonable judgment and maintain confidentiality.
  • Experience in structured teaching, center-based model

Responsibilities

  • Assists individual student with lesson assignments to present or reinforce learning concepts in accordance with the student's individualized education program
  • Works with individual student to reinforce learning of materials or skills as instructed by the teacher
  • Work as part of a classroom team to support academic instruction and behavior plans.
  • Execute lessons as directed by the teacher or classroom lead. These may include supporting independent work, special projects, or teaching a lesson to a small group.
  • Assists the student in participating in classroom routines, transitions and self-care tasks as necessary.
  • Implement behavior intervention techniques in alignment with Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) as directed by ABA Manager or Campus Director.
  • Work with the Lead Behavior Specialist and the ABA Manager to improve behavioral practices and approach.
  • Assists student with self-care activities related to medical needs, eating, dressing, toileting, grooming, as needed
  • Accompanies and assists the student throughout the school day as necessitated by the IEP
  • Communicates with the student’s parents on a regular basis.
  • Follow tier one behavioral supports and behavior plans as directed.
  • Obtain and maintain QBS certification.
  • Strong adherence to policies as outlined in the AZACS Employee Handbook.
  • Maintain professional conduct and appearance.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Managers and Directors.
