About The Position

The Hampton Roads Connector Partners JV (HRCP), a joint venture of Flatiron, Dragados USA, and VINCI, is undertaking a significant $3.3 billion Design Build project, the largest civil construction contract ever awarded by the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT). This project involves constructing a 9-mile section of I-64, including a new 3.5-mile bridge-tunnel crossing with 8 lanes of capacity over water, replacement of existing marine approach bridges, and the addition of a third lane in each direction on I-64. The project features twin 45’ diameter tunnels, each 1.5 miles long, to be bored by a TBM, creating the second largest TBM tunnel opening in North America. As a Structures Superintendent - Night Shift, you will be instrumental in ensuring the success of these complex construction projects by scheduling, coordinating, and supervising production and workforce. You will collaborate with industry experts and committed teams to ensure project compliance with contract drawings and specifications.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of heavy civil construction experience required.
  • 3+ years construction management experience required.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction site equipment operation and maintenance requirements.
  • Advanced knowledge of construction site safety protocols and proven ability to enforce project safety programs.
  • Knowledge and understanding of local union or prevailing wage rules, if applicable.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret standards and contract specific plans and specifications.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistics, and fundamentals geometry.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree a plus.
  • Safety Trained Supervisor (STS) certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan work methods, materials, equipment needs and work schedule for assigned project work.
  • Reviews daily work schedule with direct reports and updates weekly schedule from project feedback.
  • Review and understands the project specifications to support job set up activities.
  • Works with work crews, field engineers and local utility companies to identify hazardous areas on job site.
  • Coordinate with internal equipment team and external vendors to ensure that project work is equipped with appropriate equipment and material quantities to complete production within assigned budget and schedule.
  • Provide technical input to identify and resolve project risks including construction methods, work plan and material requirements, safety and schedule activities.
  • Support and promotes strict adherence to safety and process controls regarding operating equipment, worksite safety and documentation requirements.
  • Responsibility includes recommending training needs identified on jobsite.
  • Supervise sub-contractor production and workforce regarding assigned project work.
  • Recommends work schedule or work method adjustments regarding sub-contractor activities, as needed.
