About The Position

The Payloads Organization within Boeing Commercial Airplanes is seeking Structures & Payload Design Engineers (Associate or Mid‑Level) to join the Seats Integration Team (SIT) in Everett or Renton, WA. Seat Engineers manage installation, integration, and certification of passenger seat programs across Boeing aircraft by overseeing supplier seat designs and ensuring customers, regulatory, and Boeing requirements are satisfied. Success in this role requires frequent coordination across Customer Engineering, Payload Configuration, Supplier Management, Seat Suppliers, airline customers, commodity teams, regulatory authorities (including the FAA), and factory personnel. A solid engineering foundation is essential to review and approve supplier technical data, understand certification test requirements, prepare engineering releases supporting seat and systems installations, and author compliance summary reports. Candidates with experience in any of the following are encouraged to apply: Engineering support and project leadership within a production or final assembly environment Direct engagement with aerospace suppliers or airlines Validating or demonstrating compliance to regulatory requirements Working directly with regulators (FAA or equivalent) Design for manufacturing and supplier optimization

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)
  • 2+ years of relevant experience or equivalent industry experience
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as required

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of relevant experience or equivalent industry experience
  • Familiarity with payloads engineering releases and configuration management processes
  • Experience with CATIA, ENOVIA, IVT, DCCS, and REDARS
  • Experience reviewing technical documentation and authoring technical deliverables
  • Strong attention to detail and effective verbal and written communication skills; proven ability to collaborate across teams

Responsibilities

  • Develops, integrates, and documents structural and interior payload system requirements to establish overall system design
  • Creates, maintains, and updates structural and interior payload system and component designs using 3‑D CAD tools and other design methods to provide product definition to engineering groups, production operations, suppliers, and customers
  • Performs and integrates analytical and test results to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications
  • Manages supplier development, test, and production activities; coordinate with suppliers to optimize designs and achieve program goals
  • Develops and improves design/analysis processes and tools to increase effectiveness, quality, and efficiency
  • Investigates emerging technologies to propose concepts for future product designs that meet projected requirements
  • Prepares and reviews technical data, engineering releases, and compliance summary reports supporting installation and certification
  • Works under general direction and collaborate across multi‑discipline teams to deliver on program objectives
