About The Position

Boeing Defense, Space, and Security (BDS) is seeking Structures & Payload Design Engineers to join the AH-64 Apache Airframe Integrated Product Team (IPT) in Mesa, AZ. This role is for Experienced (Level 3) to Senior (Level 4) Design Engineers. The Airframe IPT is a multi-functional Engineering Organization focused on providing engineering solutions for the AH-64 Apache Helicopter. The team is agile and adapts to emerging opportunities, supporting various projects and programs. Daily tasks involve design work, 3D CAD model generation, and product data management for structural components, hardware, assemblies, and installations, utilizing both model-based definition and traditional drawing generation. The selected candidate will collaborate with adjacent engineering functions including stress analysis, materials and processes, manufacturing, procurement, quality, safety, systems, and verification. Designs must adhere to customer requirements, including release processes and signature cycle approvals. The role also involves supporting supplier development, testing, and production activities, working closely with suppliers to optimize designs and meet program objectives.

Requirements

  • Mid-Level (Level 3) - Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Engineering Technology), Computer Science, Engineering Data Science, Mathematics, Physics or Chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications.
  • Senior (Level 4) - Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education from an accredited course of study in engineering, engineering technology (includes manufacturing engineering technology), computer science, engineering data science, mathematics, physics or chemistry (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 9 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience or non-US equivalent qualifications.
  • In the USA, ABET accreditation is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
  • Must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. A “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience leading a cross-functional team.
  • Prior work experience supporting the AH-64 Apache attack helicopter and/or the AH-6 Little Bird helicopter.
  • Experience in structural design process from conceptual layout phase through build to package release.
  • NX CAD and Teamcenter PDM skills.
  • Knowledge of structural design principles for aircraft primary and secondary structure.
  • Ability and willingness to travel 10% of the time domestically and internationally.
  • Successful candidates for this job must satisfy the company's Conflict of Interest (COI) assessment process.

Responsibilities

  • Engineering support and project leadership within an Integrated Product Team.
  • Ability to communicate professionally across multiple organizations and/or throughout all levels of leadership.
  • Develop, maintain, and modify basic structural component designs, using 3-D Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools and/or other design methods, to provide product definition to other engineering groups, production operations, suppliers and external customers throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Develop solutions to a variety of technical problems.
  • Perform tests to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
  • Assist with supplier development, test and production activities, and coordination with the supplier to optimize the design and achieve program goals.
  • Support investigation of emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements.
  • Works under general to minimal direction.
