About The Position

The Mechanical Systems, Externals & Nacelles (MSEN) group is hiring a Structures Engineer I to join Pratt & Whitney’s multiyear Engineering Development Program (EDP). The program is designed for new college hires and accelerates technical capability through substantive work rotations, while connecting participants with technical resources and engineering experts. The first 2.5 years consist of three rotations lasting 12, 9, and 9 months, typically in distinct disciplines within the hiring department, to provide a breadth and depth of technical experience. The engineer performs structural analysis throughout the product development cycle, from concept initiation and preliminary and detailed design through testing, validation, certification, and post-certification support. The role evaluates MSEN components using finite element analysis and classical methods, contributes recommendations to design teams, supports tests and field investigations, and documents and presents analysis results. This is an onsite, U.S.-based role in East Hartford, Connecticut. U.S. citizenship is required; no security clearance is required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or a STEM field, obtained by the start date.

  • Support field investigations and participate in root-cause investigation teams.
  • Use finite element analysis and classical methods to evaluate MSEN component strength, stiffness, deflection, vibration, fatigue life, and damage tolerance.
  • Advance technology and improve engineering standard work processes and methods.
  • Document analysis results, conduct structures discipline reviews, author SAMs, and present conclusions to Chiefs/Fellows, Pratt & Whitney management, and external customers.
