About The Position

Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) is currently hiring various levels for an Structures Design Engineer (Associate or Experienced) to join the team in Everett or Renton, WA locations. The new positions are focused on evaluation of in-service (fleet) performance of the landing gear, evaluation for wear and corrosion, and establishing a technical basis supporting maintenance and overhaul. This work will involve working with Customer Support Engineering, Operator/Customers, and Maintenance and Repair Organization (MRO) providers. The Landing Gear Design Center is responsible for the full life cycle of landing gears from product development through post-production, across all BCA programs.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of related work experience in aerospace structural design
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences)
  • 1+ years experience in an engineering job classification
  • Must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements. To meet U.S. export control compliance requirements, a “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Nice To Haves

  • 3+ years of higher education and/or related work experience (Higher education includes college, university, technical school, licensing/certification programs, etc.)
  • Experience in preparing and releasing product definition data (PDD), using CATIA V5, PDM ENOVIA, etc
  • Experience working with Boeing Factory, Boeing Fabrication Division, and/or producers of parts within the supply chain
  • Experience in post-production products/customer support

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates with Customer Support Engineering, Operator/Customers, and Maintenance and Repair Organizations (MRO) for collection of data during landing gear overhauls
  • Evaluates data for wear, corrosion, and other damage to determine overall landing gear in-service performance
  • Predicts landing gear in-service performance for varying overhaul intervals
  • Recommends changes in maintenance practices to improve landing gear in-service performance, where necessary
  • Works under general direction
