About The Position

The Boeing Company's BDS Mobility, Surveillance & Bombers (MS&B) B-1B Structures team is seeking a Structures Design Engineer (Associate or Experienced) to join the Full-Scale Fatigue Test Structures Engineering Support team in Tukwila, Washington. This role involves understanding and executing inspections and repairs for the B-1B Full Scale Fatigue Test and sustainment program. The ideal candidate will possess a background in mechanical systems or structural design, strong communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with geographically dispersed teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences).
  • 2+ years of engineering experience.
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance for which the U.S. Government requires U.S. Citizenship.
  • An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance Post-Start is required.
  • Must meet U.S. export control compliance requirements.
  • A “U.S. Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. §120.62 is required. “U.S. Person” includes U.S. Citizen, U.S. National, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Nice To Haves

  • 3 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 2+ years’ experience with fleet support or other sustainment engineering activities in a fast-paced Aircraft On Ground environment.
  • 2+ years’ experience in Engineering with 2+ years’ experience with CATIA or other CAD software. (P2)
  • 5+ years’ experience in Engineering with 5+ years’ experience with CATIA or other CAD software. (P3)
  • Experience in computer aided design/computer aided manufacturing (CAD/CAM), Computer Aided Three-dimensional Interactive (CATIA), Mentor Graphics and / or Unigraphics.
  • Experience with collecting, organizing, synthesizing, and analyzing data; summarizing findings; developing conclusions and recommendations from appropriate data sources.
  • Ability to communicate with technical personnel from multiple skill areas and functions to evaluate technical information and issues impacting design, production, and support of products, services, or other deliverables.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, integrates, and documents mechanical and structural payload system requirements to establish the system design.
  • Develops, maintains, and manages mechanical and structural system and component designs, using 3-D Computer Aided Design tools and/or other design methods, to provide product definition to other engineering groups, production operations, suppliers, and external customers throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Performs tests to validate and verify that systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
  • Leads supplier development, test, and production activities and coordination with the supplier to optimize the design and achieve program goals.
  • Leads investigation of emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements.
  • Clearly communicates technical information with Boeing teams, suppliers, customers, and regulatory delegates to certify and produce a product.
  • Develops new repairs, creates 3d printed test parts for part validation and collaborates with local machine shops to rapidly produce repair parts for the test article.
  • Builds strong relationships with the production teams that produce test parts for the test article.
