This position is for a Structures and Mechanisms Engineer, HLS, on the JETSII Contract with Barrios, a teammate company. The role involves performing risk-based structural insight reviews of commercial provider deliverables, conducting requirements traceability mapping, and reviewing provider compliance with design and construction standards. The engineer will also review qualification and acceptance test plans and reports for human-rated lunar lander structural hardware, and engage with commercial providers through Structures & Mechanisms Insight Forums. A key responsibility is serving as the Responsible Engineer (RE) for NASA-owned Government Furnished Property (GFP) structural readiness within HLS Crew Structures, which includes tracking, documentation, and communication of GFP structural status and verification progress. This involves maintaining ownership of GFP Confluence pages, reviewing NASA GFP project structural analyses and documentation, and coordinating with various stakeholders to ensure GFP structural verification evidence is properly interpreted and communicated. The role also includes performing independent structural analyses using CAD/FEA tools to assess provider design maturity, validate assumptions, and identify risk areas. Findings will be communicated to the HLS Crew Structures Lead to support decision-making and readiness assessments.
