About The Position

The Structured Cabling Project Manager - Technology Solutions role is responsible for overseeing all aspects of structured cabling projects, from initial planning and budgeting to execution, client communication, and project closeout. This position requires strong leadership, risk management, and customer service skills, with a focus on ensuring projects are completed safely, on time, and within budget. The role involves supervising project personnel, managing subcontractors and vendors, processing material procurement, and ensuring compliance with company standards and safety regulations. The Project Manager will also play a key role in process improvement, training future leaders, and maintaining strong relationships with all project stakeholders.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Extensive experience in the installation and supervision of structured cabling.
  • Knowledge of the construction process from scheduling to manpower to the labor, materials, and equipment required for installation.
  • Knowledge of constructability and the construction process.
  • Knowledge of algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to write commodity purchase orders from the installation estimate.
  • Knowledge of statistics and financial math.
  • Ability to act as a self-starter.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise all project personnel, ensuring productivity, safety, and adherence to safety audits.
  • Perform job walks to verify employee safety, PPE usage, productivity, and proper tool/material placement.
  • Ensure installations meet company standards.
  • Take responsibility for project billings and front-end billing processes.
  • Train and develop project manager replacements and field personnel, identifying future leaders.
  • Actively contribute to improving the company's safety culture.
  • Engage in and help develop new company standards and processes, holding others accountable.
  • Participate in Project Manager meetings.
  • Help develop phase codes for projects.
  • Develop budgets and forecasts.
  • Provide input to the Superintendent on accurate man-loading based on project schedules.
  • Write commodity purchase orders from installation estimates.
  • Manage subcontractors and vendors at a financial level.
  • Estimate change orders on projects.
  • Assist the project team with labor cost codes.
  • Ensure accurate timekeeping by all parties into proper phase codes.
  • Create change estimates for project modifications.
  • Perform detailed installation estimates for lighting, gear, special systems, and committed materials to verify quantities.
  • Manage material procurement processes, including quoting, procuring, receiving, and tracking.
  • Execute cost-to-complete processes and monthly forecasting.
  • Handle customer service interactions, including difficult conversations with customers and trade partners.
  • Take ultimate responsibility for submittals.
  • Assist with submittal creation and material procurement.
  • Ensure purchase orders are written and updated for project changes.
  • Coordinate and maintain relationships with all project stakeholders.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of construction documents.
  • Attend required meetings.
  • Ensure proper permits are obtained for the job location.
  • Understand permitting processes and wiring methods in different jurisdictions.
  • Manage project closeout documentation.
  • Involve the service department prior to completion for smooth handover and owner introduction.
  • Assist with job closing out with vendors.
  • Provide value in project interviews.
  • Work effectively with and support Preconstruction Services.
  • Perform accurate and consistent man-loading of project scope.
  • Work with the project team to set up jobs.
  • Utilize support service groups effectively.
  • Work with the project team to build information sheets and jobsite maps.
  • Maintain strong communication with the entire project team (internal and external).
  • Navigate the Project Management System.
  • Perform remote travel if required, which may be compensated at an inflated rate.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
