About The Position

The Structured Cabling Project Manager - Technology Solutions will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of structured cabling projects, from initial planning and budgeting to execution and closeout. This role requires strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills to manage project teams, subcontractors, vendors, and client relationships. The Project Manager will ensure projects are completed safely, on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards, while also contributing to the company's safety culture and process improvement initiatives.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Extensive experience in the installation and supervision of structured cabling.
  • Knowledge of the construction process from scheduling to manpower to the labor, materials and equipment required for installation.
  • Knowledge of constructability and the construction process.
  • Knowledge of algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to write commodity purchase orders from the installation estimate.
  • Knowledge of statistics.
  • Knowledge of financial math.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise all project personnel.
  • Take responsibility for productivity and safety, including conducting safety audits.
  • Perform job walks to ensure employees are wearing appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and using tools correctly.
  • Ensure employees are working safely and productively.
  • Verify that tools and materials are located in close proximity to the work being performed.
  • Ensure the installation meets established standards.
  • Take ultimate responsibility for project billings and understand the job well enough to front-end bill it.
  • Continuously train the project manager’s replacement and provide training and coaching to field personnel, identifying future leaders.
  • Be actively involved in improving the overall safety culture of the company.
  • Engage in and help develop new company standards and processes, holding others accountable.
  • Participate in Project Manager meetings.
  • Help develop phase codes for projects.
  • Develop budgets and forecast project financials.
  • Provide input to the Superintendent on accurate man-loading based on the project schedule.

  • Perform detailed installation estimates for lighting, gear, special systems, and committed materials to verify quantities from the project development estimate.
  • Manage material procurement processes, including quoting, procuring, receiving, and tracking.
  • Oversee the cost-to-complete process and monthly forecasting.
  • Have fierce conversations with customers and other trade partners.
  • Take ultimate responsibility for submittals.
  • Assist with submittal creation and material procurement.
  • Ensure purchase orders are written and that the project is current on changes to purchase orders.
  • Coordinate and maintain relationships with all project stakeholders.
  • Ensure proper maintenance of construction documents.
  • Actively engage in required meetings.
  • Ensure the proper permit is obtained in the jurisdiction for the job location.
  • Understand the permitting process and wiring methods in different jurisdictions.
  • Be responsible for project closeout documentation.
  • Involve the service department prior to completion so they are familiar with the job and introduced to the owner.
  • Assist with closing out the job with vendors.
  • Provide value during project interviews.
  • Effectively work with and support Preconstruction Services.
  • Accurately and consistently perform man-loading of the project scope.
  • Work with the project team to set up the job.
  • Understand how to effectively utilize support service groups.
  • Work with the project team to build an information sheet and map to the jobsite.
  • Maintain strong communications with the entire project team (Internal and External).
  • Navigate the Project Management System.
  • Perform remote travel as agreed upon or required, which may be compensated at an inflated rate.
