About The Position

The Structural Welder Journeyworker will apply technical knowledge and practical welding skills to assist in component installation, fit-up, and alignment. This role requires familiarity with SMAW and GTAW processes, the ability to verify component positions, and utilize conventional tools for preparation and cleanup. The position also involves tack-welding, performing front-line examination of welding work, and adhering to all safety procedures. Candidates must be able to pass a pre-employment welding examination.

Requirements

  • Possess the necessary skill sets to pass the pre-employment welding examination.
  • Familiarity with the equipment required to perform Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW) or Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) processes.
  • Ability to verify position of metal components in assembly, using straight edge, combination square, calipers, and rule.
  • Proficiency in utilizing conventional tools for preparation of welding and clean up (Grinders, buffers, file, chipping hammer, etc.).
  • Familiarity with weld acceptance criteria and ability to perform front-line examination of the welding work performed.
  • Adherence to all safety procedures.
