This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface. Requirements

Passion for our mission: Millions of people living and working in space!
BS or MS in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or related technical discipline
5+ years experience, including test-specific experience in at least one of the following areas: loads, life cycle, proof, modal, shock or acoustic
Ability to assign tasking, delegate workload and supervise a team of 2-5 engineers
Experience working on dispersed rapid development teams, driving process development
Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion
Basic understanding in the fundamentals of design (requirements identification, material selection, input definition, form factors, interface definition, environmental considerations, etc.)
Intermediate proficiency in 3D CAD programs (Creo Pro/E preferred) including drawing creation.
Intermediate proficiency in strength and mechanics of materials.

Nice To Haves

Experience with space vehicle component or integrated vehicle testing including structural, environmental and performance
Experience with participating in NASA technical reviews
Experience with test facility instrumentation and Data Acquisition and Control Systems, including troubleshooting analog and digital hardware with bench measurement equipment
Understands/experience with hazardous operations
Experience with control actuators, deployable devices (doors, landing gear, sensors, etc.), hydraulic system components, separation systems, or other mechanical systems
Familiarity with sensors including linear variable differential transformers, strain gages, thermocouples, accelerometers, and pressure transducers

Responsibilities

Lead a small team of early career engineers through an entire structural test campaign
Participate in the assembly and test of development and flight hardware including planning, execution, data reduction and analysis
Identify and assist in design, procurement and integration of Mechanical Ground Support Equipment (MGSE)
Lead daily test operations, operate test consoles, direct technician work and coordinate with internal customers
Perform root cause, system hazard analysis and failure investigations
Troubleshoot issues that arise during testing, including managing procedural redlines and updates during test campaigns
Proactively prepare status updates and communicate both within the organization and with direct customers
Participate in test readiness reviews, pre and post-test briefings, and post-test reviews
Coordinate test crews, support equipment and configurations for testing
Enforce safety policies during test planning and operations
Find opportunities for safety improvements and cost savings
