Play an integral role in delivering safe, high-quality structural construction on complex, large-scale projects. As a Structural Superintendent, you will operate at the center of field execution—translating plans into reality, aligning crews to priorities, and ensuring every aspect of structural work is delivered efficiently, safely, and to specification. This role is suited to someone who thrives in dynamic site environments and is comfortable leading experienced forepeople while maintaining a clear focus on outcomes. Purpose of the role You will be responsible for leading structural construction activities on site, directing multiple forepeople and trade crews to achieve project objectives. This includes workforce planning, scheduling, and workface coordination, while ensuring compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) standards. You will balance productivity, cost control, and quality assurance while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Extensive field experience (typically 12+ years) in structural construction within industrial, energy, or large infrastructure projects
  • Journey-level certification or equivalent trade qualification, where required
  • Demonstrated ability to lead large, multi-layered field teams through forepeople and supervisors
  • Strong expertise in workface planning, scheduling, and manpower optimization
  • Proven track record of delivering projects safely, on time, and within budget
  • Deep understanding of HSE principles and a commitment to embedding safety as a core value
  • Solid knowledge of construction cost control, productivity metrics, and quality assurance processes
  • Advanced understanding of construction systems, tools, and workflows, with the ability to troubleshoot and improve them
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence, coach, and resolve conflict effectively
  • Working knowledge of labor relations practices and workforce management in a construction environment
  • A pragmatic, solutions-oriented mindset with the ability to adapt in fast-paced and evolving project conditions

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day leadership and direction to a large group of structural forepeople and trade crews on site
  • Plan, prioritize, and allocate manpower to meet construction schedules and maintain productivity targets
  • Oversee workface planning and coordination to ensure efficient execution of structural activities
  • Monitor crew performance, productivity, and efficiency, adjusting plans as required to meet project demands
  • Ensure strict adherence to HSE policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements
  • Champion apprentice development and on-the-job training to build long-term capability within the workforce
  • Manage construction costs, track expenditures, and identify opportunities to improve cost efficiency
  • Enforce quality control standards, ensuring all structural work meets design specifications and project requirements
  • Collaborate closely with construction management, engineering, and project controls teams to align execution strategies
  • Communicate clearly and effectively with stakeholders, influencing outcomes and resolving conflicts where necessary
  • Apply company labor relations policies consistently and appropriately within the workforce
  • Support the continuous improvement of systems, processes, and tools related to structural construction execution
