Structural/Stress Analysis Engineer 3

Indotronix International Corporation•El Segundo, CA
•Onsite

About The Position

Indotronix is seeking a Structural/Stress Analysis Engineer 3 for an onsite, 3+ month contract role in El Segundo, California, with a 9x80 work schedule. The candidate must be able to obtain a Secret clearance. The engineer will analyze and research products and provide design or operational input involving metals and other materials. Areas of structural engineering may include dynamics and loads, stability, stress fatigue, damage tolerance, durability, and design allowables. The role also supports the design of industrial tools and assembly structures—such as work stands, lifting jigs, composite dies, drill fixtures, machine attachments, and equipment—for aerospace fabrication production or experimental use. Familiarity with fabrication and machine-shop practices is needed to guide engineers. The successful candidate will work autonomously and collaboratively, adapt to processes and company policies, and contribute process or design innovations. The role performs structural analysis using hand calculations and FEMAP/NASTRAN, prepares and reviews analysis reports, explains structural issues and solutions to management and customer representatives, and collaborates with engineering team members on complex problems. It evaluates products for conformity with standards, procedures, and specifications; performs static and dynamic analysis of tooling fixtures and structures; identifies and mitigates safety risks; develops designs using NX and CATIA; and creates fabrication drawings in accordance with ASME Y14.1–5 standards.

Requirements

  • Active Professional Engineering license, preferably from California.
  • Experience analyzing simple to complex problems using hand calculations and finite element analysis.
  • Experience with structural stress analysis techniques, concepts, and practices.
  • Experience with computer-aided design tools and systems, including CATIA or NX.
  • Basic ability to create, read, understand, and interpret engineering drawings and specifications in accordance with ASME 14.5.
  • Basic understanding of GD&T.
  • Ability to communicate with various levels of leadership, coordinate and resolve interpersonal and technical problems, and work independently or on a team with limited guidance.
  • Bachelor's degree in a STEM field.
  • Experience in medium- to large-scale fabrication and/or production fabrication involving composites, metallic materials, and/or manufacturing operations.
  • Ability to obtain a Secret clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in an aerospace manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with aircraft structural analysis or design.
  • Direct experience with tooling mechanics and stress analysis.
  • Experience with fabrication considerations such as accessibility, economy, mobility, and performance requirements.
  • Current active DOD Secret clearance with an investigation date or periodic review within the last five years.

Responsibilities

  • Analyze, research, and provide input on product design or operation involving metals and varying materials.
  • Perform structural analysis using hand calculations and FEMAP/NASTRAN software.
  • Create reports supporting completed analyses and review reports prepared by others.
  • Present and explain structural issues and solutions concisely to internal management and customer representatives.
  • Collaborate with team members in meetings and one-on-one discussions to resolve complex engineering problems.
  • Evaluate engineering products for conformity with standards, procedures, and specifications.
  • Perform static and dynamic analysis of tooling fixtures and structures.
  • Identify and mitigate safety risks in accordance with company and state or government standards.
  • Develop and conceptualize designs using 3D modeling tools, including NX and CATIA.
  • Create CAD fabrication drawings compliant with ASME Y14.1–5 standards.
  • Assist in designing industrial tools and assembly structures for aerospace fabrication production or experimental use.
  • Provide engineering guidance informed by current fabrication and machine-shop practices.
